Research Assistant:

Christopher Adamchek
christopher.adamchek@yale.edu

Christopher is a Research Assistant who is interested in how the plant circadian clock intersects with stress pathways to improve plan fitness.  He handles the protein expressions and phenotyping (taking thousands of plant pictures) of the labs decoy library pipeline.  Outside of the lab you can find Chris pursuing his life passion of Karate.

Postdoctoral:

Man-Wah Li, Ph.D.
manwah.li@yale.edu

Man-Wah is an Associate Research Scientist currently focused on exploring seasonal growth mechanisms. Additionally, he is interested in research related to plant-environment interactions, plant abiotic stress tolerance, plant population genetics, and genomics. He has an outdated CPU in his brain, so please forgive him if he occasionally does not respond.

Fanliang Meng, Ph.D.
fanliang.meng@yale.edu

Fanliang is a postdoctoral researcher in the Gendron lab.

Graduate Students:

Morgan Vanderwall
morgan.vanderwall@yale.edu

Morgan is from Utah and graduated from Whitworth University with B.S. in biochemistry.  As a graduate student, she is using biochemical assays and genetic screens to investigate the function of a sugar-binding F-Box protein and its role in promoting glycoprotein degradation and wintertime plant survival.  Outside of the lab you can find Morgan knitting, hiking/running, or buying yet another house plant.

Yushi Xia
yushi.xia@yale.edu

Yushi is a graduate student in the Gendron lab. He is currently working on the function of circadian clock genes in regulating metabolic day length measurement system. Outside of the lab you can find Yushi messing up his kitchen.

Anxu Xu
Anxu is a graduate student in the Gendron Lab, originally from a coastal town in Wenzhou, China. He earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences from Zhejiang University and rejoined Yale as a graduate student after a ten-month internship in the same lab. His current research focuses on photoperiodic growth. Outside the lab, he enjoys exploring nature around the globe and creating art at home.

Alex Hoffman
Alex is a graduate student. While receiving her B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering and B.A. in Computer Science at Duke University, Alex worked in the You Lab. Additionally from 2018-2021, Alex worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering in the Levine Lab. Currently, Alex is interested in using bioengineering to address issues arising from climate change. Her project broadly aims to expand our capacity to engineer plants’ photoperiodic response. Outside of the lab, Alex enjoys drawing, listening to music, and cooking.

Beatrice Cundiff
Bea is a graduate student in the Gendron lab. She is from the western suburbs of Chicago and graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.S. in Genetics & Plant Biology and Environmental Science. As a graduate student she is interested in studying the genetic responses of plants to our changing global climate. Outside of the lab you can find Bea running/hiking, taking care of her house plants, or cozying up for the night with a cup of tea and a good TV show.

Undergraduate Student(s):

Lauren Holt
Lauren is an undergraduate researcher in the Gendron lab.

Visiting Student(s):

Haonan Zhang
Haonan is a visiting undergraduate in the Gendron lab. He has a wide interest on plant science, and he is exploring unknown, significant and promising genes in circadian clock. Outside the lab, you could find him playing badminton or practice singing, and sometimes playing video games including LoL, Valorant, CS2, etc.

Rotation Student(s):

Tim Sui
Tim is a rotation student in the Gendron Lab. He is originally from China and graduated from the University of Hong Kong with BSc in Biological Sciences and a Mathematics minor. His research interest falls in intersection between plant biology and mathematics. Currently, Tim is investigating photoperiodic leaf growth pattern using computational simulation. Outside of the lab, you can find Tim listening to music, reading, and trying to cook better in kitchen.

Sergio Borunda

Sergio is a rotational student in the Gendron Lab. He is from El Paso, Texas and graduated from Princeton University with a A.B. in Molecular Biology. Currently, Sergio is investigating plant responses to thermoperiodic cues in a variety of plant species. Outside of the lab, you can find Sergio reading, hiking, or playing tennis.
